chanel: resort 2011

I love Chanel, but I wasn't completely blown away by this one. I appreciate the artistry behind the pieces, but as far as what I would wear in my mind...eh. HOWEVER, I love the tweed dresses and jackets, of course. What Chanel collection would be complete without them? The rest of the pieces are a little too boho for my liking.

The lace-up sandals are cool...very vision quest. The gold tweed pieces are GORGEOUS! The golds and browns definitely set the mood for the collection and the season.

Yes, that is Crystal Renn (in the cream and black colorblock dress). I'm very pleased to see Karl Lagerfeld using a size 12 (US) model in his collections. She looks great.

The fall 2010 collection was flirty and feminine. For resort, Marc Jacobs kept the girliness, but made all of his looks very accessory-driven. The classic monogram bags are a staple, of course, as are the 60s secretary/librarian glasses and suits. As an accessories fanatic, I appreciate that each outfit is decked out to the nines with gloves, hats, jewelry, and head scarves.

marc jacobs: resort 2011

Holy 'Valley of the Dolls' meets 'Stepford Wives' meets rich European 60s housewife in St. Barts! I haven't had a freak-out like this over a collection for a long time. The pastel tweeds and cat-eye sunglasses are to die for.

It has the supernatural ability to stick to a theme, but at the same time, play with different inspirations. Personally, I see a little bit of Chanel with the tweed and double-breasted sweater coats. The brown and creme polka dots remind me of the outfit Julia Roberts wore in 'Pretty Woman' at the horse-races.

Nicole Kidman's character in 'To Die For' loved to wear pastelly, Chanel-inspired suits. If you haven't seen the movie, go rent it.
