slide on, glide on

This has to be my favorite trend (a word I hate and use loosely): slide on pool sandals. The once hideous dorm shower sandals are now street-style chic. From Birkenstocks, which made a huge comeback in the spring and now into the summer, to the quilted lovelies known as the Isabel Marant "Holden" sandal, there's an ample amount of beauties to choose from; somehow even the Adidas Pool Slide sandal has managed to look elegant and high fashion when paired with an oversized blazer and black trousers.

best dressed: 2013 met gala

The Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual costume gala this year was absolutely stunning. The theme, Punk: Chaos to Couture, already had me. I was delighted to see everyone's unique take on the theme. There were so many incredible looks, I just picked a bunch that I loved. Enjoy!

Alexa Chung in Erdem

Duh. Adore the sheerness and the cropped top.

Cara Delevingne in Burberry Prorsum

SO good. Nothing says punk like studs and a great smokey eye.

Nicole Richie in Topshop Unique

Lovely gown. I almost didn't recognize Nicole with her gray hair, but she looks gorgeous.

Rooney Mara in Givenchy

I love chic, goth Rooney Mara. She abandoned her usual black attire for a gorgeous white gown.

Anne Hathaway in Valentino

Inspired by Debbie Harry, Anne Hathaway wears a racy gown complete with platinum blonde hair! I'm into it! I think she looks great as a blonde.

Sienna Miller in Burberry Prorsum
This is so good. Sienna really nailed the punk look.

Sofia Coppola in Marc Jacobs and Marc Jacobs in Comme des Garçons

Best couple of the night! The besties looked amazing. Love them both so much.

coachella 2013 favorites

I have yet to attend the beloved music festival in Indio, California, but every year I die over the lineup and dream up what I might wear and who I'd see. I always LOVE to see what festival-goers wear, celebrity or not. It's like the indie version of the Oscars. This year was very impressive.

Alexa Chung in Lacoste

This is no surprise. I love anything and everything she wears.

Agyness Deyn in her own design for Dr. Martens

Haven't seen much of Aggy lately, aside from her AMAZING Dr. Martens collaboration. I love how casual this look is, and that eyeball print is so stinkin' cute. I saw it as a dress which was also adorable.

Chanel Iman in Alexander Wang
Babe alert: Here is model Chanel Iman KILLING it in the most to-die-for Alexander Wang sandals. I absolutely love how she made these festival-ready and almost casual.

Diane Kruger

Always lovely and dresses to impress. I love her vintage rock tee with the printed short-shorts.

Madeline Sensibile from Obsessee wearing Agyness Deyn for Dr. Martens

Here's the eyeball print again! I love it more as a dress, actually. Maddie is one of my favorite bloggers; she always manages to pull off the perfect rock girl look with girly items, masculine, thrifted, high-end, etc. The girl can do no wrong.

fall lust

If you're like me, you probably start fall shopping when it's still 100 degrees outside. I let stuff sit in my closet for months, but I don't care -- I love fall more than any other season. I've comprised a list of my most wanted items. We'll call it "pre-fall," as I know this list will keep growing before September even gets here.

Creatures of the Wind Psychedelic Oxfords- J.Crew

Saw these in the catalog and fell in love. They're out of control and kooky '70s, but I absolutely adore them. Can we also talk for a second about Creatures of the Wind doing a line with J.Crew? So great.

Buckled Trifecta Flats- Anthropologie

I saw these on Natalie Off Duty's Instagram page. They remind me so much of the bondage-esque Vivienne Westwood Mary-Janes that Alexa Chung was wearing for so long. These are a little more dainty, but they're so cute.

Quilted leather jacket- Zara

I love a leather jacket like nothing else. I have a few with quilted details on the arms or the back, but this one is amazing because it's all over quilted. Something that certainly a Roitfeld would wear.

Leather Overalls- Free People

I have been obsessed with overalls lately, so when I saw these vegan leather ones, I about died. Such a perfect fall piece (or any season, really). Just add some tights for cold weather!

BDG Polka Dot Chambray- Urban Outfitters

A fun twist on a classic chambray (which I have way too many of). Polka dots are always a great addition.

Legacy Colorblock Duffle- Coach

Okay, so I'll just say it: I hate Coach most of the time. It's not my fault; every single person owns the horrible logo bags, and as a result, I've come to associate Coach with all things gross and unfashionable. HOWEVER, we should not forget that they have their roots in amazing leather bags. Great leather was their bread and butter originally, and they do a lovely classic bag when it's not plastered in a million Cs. When I saw this bag, I fell in love. The style is great, the colorblocking is gorgeous. I can admit it: I love a Coach bag.

Petty Leopard boot- Sam Edelman

I've wanted these since last fall, and I never bought them. When I finally had the money to get them, they were sold out just about everywhere. This year, I'm definitely purchasing these. A perfect boot, and obviously my list would not be complete without a leopard piece.

Happy Pre-Fall!

summer's swan song

While I'm sad to see summer go, I have to say that I am freakin' STOKED for fall. Easily my favorite time of year. The layering, the rich colors, furs (faux, of course), prints, boots, scarves. So excited.

Outfitting is sort of hanging on to the warm weather, but still incorporating some early fall pieces. It doesn't have to be awkward, although I know everyone is dying to start wearing their oversized sweaters and tights. This is the time where the sweaters are starting to come on, still with bare legs, or long pants with short-sleeves, etc. Here are some of my favorite late-summer outfitting inspirations:

Jenna Lyons
I have a girl-crush on JCrew's creative director and style savior, Jenna Lyons, along with the rest of the world. She knows how to make style effortless.

Alexa Chung

I'm not sure where Alexa found these amazing overalls, but I'm sure you could find some in a thrift store easily.

Kylie Minogue

She's one that I forget about, and I'm not sure why, especially when I see this outfit. A breezy button-down in leopard print is a perfect transition piece. Not too heavy for warm weather, but a perfect fall staple as well.

Blake Lively

A cobalt blue Chanel bag? Yes, please.

Whitney Port

Amazing pants on Whitney, who in the past, always played it so safe. I'm glad to see her being more adventurous.

boys don't make passes at girls who wear glasses

Or do they? Everyone loves girls in glasses. Are we really to believe that because a beautiful girls sports some specs that she's immediately the "nerdy", less-desirable friend (like Amanda Seyfried's character in 'Jennifer's Body' or any other teen movie where the geek becomes a babe because she takes off her glasses?). Give me a break. Wear your glasses proudly. I always gain a renewed love for my Chanel frames I see a sweet editorial or ad featuring lovely glasses.
