slide on, glide on

This has to be my favorite trend (a word I hate and use loosely): slide on pool sandals. The once hideous dorm shower sandals are now street-style chic. From Birkenstocks, which made a huge comeback in the spring and now into the summer, to the quilted lovelies known as the Isabel Marant "Holden" sandal, there's an ample amount of beauties to choose from; somehow even the Adidas Pool Slide sandal has managed to look elegant and high fashion when paired with an oversized blazer and black trousers.

new love: espadrilles

Sunnies: Karen Walker
Espadrilles: Rag & Bone

I've never owned a pair of espadrilles because I've never found a pair that quite suit me. That is until I found these beauties: the Rag & Bone Georgie espadrille. They're a little bit country, a little bit rock and rock. The leather is perfect and will transition nicely into early fall. So far these go with just about everything and are insanely comfortable. Perfect summer shoe to wear when you're sick of sandals or want a little more coverage.

fall lust

If you're like me, you probably start fall shopping when it's still 100 degrees outside. I let stuff sit in my closet for months, but I don't care -- I love fall more than any other season. I've comprised a list of my most wanted items. We'll call it "pre-fall," as I know this list will keep growing before September even gets here.

Creatures of the Wind Psychedelic Oxfords- J.Crew

Saw these in the catalog and fell in love. They're out of control and kooky '70s, but I absolutely adore them. Can we also talk for a second about Creatures of the Wind doing a line with J.Crew? So great.

Buckled Trifecta Flats- Anthropologie

I saw these on Natalie Off Duty's Instagram page. They remind me so much of the bondage-esque Vivienne Westwood Mary-Janes that Alexa Chung was wearing for so long. These are a little more dainty, but they're so cute.

Quilted leather jacket- Zara

I love a leather jacket like nothing else. I have a few with quilted details on the arms or the back, but this one is amazing because it's all over quilted. Something that certainly a Roitfeld would wear.

Leather Overalls- Free People

I have been obsessed with overalls lately, so when I saw these vegan leather ones, I about died. Such a perfect fall piece (or any season, really). Just add some tights for cold weather!

BDG Polka Dot Chambray- Urban Outfitters

A fun twist on a classic chambray (which I have way too many of). Polka dots are always a great addition.

Legacy Colorblock Duffle- Coach

Okay, so I'll just say it: I hate Coach most of the time. It's not my fault; every single person owns the horrible logo bags, and as a result, I've come to associate Coach with all things gross and unfashionable. HOWEVER, we should not forget that they have their roots in amazing leather bags. Great leather was their bread and butter originally, and they do a lovely classic bag when it's not plastered in a million Cs. When I saw this bag, I fell in love. The style is great, the colorblocking is gorgeous. I can admit it: I love a Coach bag.

Petty Leopard boot- Sam Edelman

I've wanted these since last fall, and I never bought them. When I finally had the money to get them, they were sold out just about everywhere. This year, I'm definitely purchasing these. A perfect boot, and obviously my list would not be complete without a leopard piece.

Happy Pre-Fall!

metal tip collar

Necklace- Vanessa Mooney
Leopard flats- Target
Sunnies- Prada

It's been awhile! Sorry about that. I saw a metal tip collar blouse at Zara and fell in love. Just when I was about to bite the bullet and spend money I don't have on it, Urban got their version. I love it. Such a simple, unique detail.

I took this picture outside of work. Locked my keys in my car again, so I decided to capture my outfit in my waiting for the spare keys to arrive.

watercolor paris

Shoes: Nine West
Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs
Sunnies: Prada

I'm not sure what is on this graphic tee, but I LOVE, LOVE it. It reminds me of a watery version of Paris or an equal caliber city. It's so romantic and troubled at the same time.

on a clear day

Striped tunic: American Apparel
Leggings: American Apparel
Chelsea boots: Urban Outfitters
Skull scarf: Alexander McQueen

This is what over-editing does to a photo. Sorry so blurry. I love playing with the effects on different photo editing apps. Sadly, this was the last "cool" day for a long time. I don't mind summer, but I am definitely counting the days until fall.

moody chanel

Sweatshirt: American Apparel
Studded shorts: BDG
Chelsea boots: Urban Outfitters
Bag: Chanel

I absolutely love Snapseed for the iPhone. It makes my pictures look extra grungy and brooding. This picture was taken outside of a grocery store, but it looks like an amazing run-down building.

sun settings

Boyfriend shorts: BDG
Necklace: House of Harlow 1960
Spiked 'Beatrix' flats: Sam Edelman
Round sunnies: Prada

It was a very lazy day of lots of sleep and no makeup. The giant Prada sunnies make up for a lack of mascara though. This look was tweeted and favorited by House of Harlow! Then they proceeded to start following me. Super awesome! Truly an honor, as I love HOH.

rainy day chambray

Chambray shirt- BDG
Rayon shorts- Ecote
Ring- Kate Spade
Spiked flats- Sam Edelman

I love spikes and studs, so when I saw these the Sam Edelman 'Beatrix' flats, I knew I had to have them. I had been drooling over them for awhile now after seeing them in the Omaha shoe boutique called The Mix. They are the perfect combination of classic cap-toe mixed with an edge. Also, they're not too embellished.

french elegance

Striped tank- American Apparel
Chiffon skirt- American Apparel
Straw tote- Marc by Marc Jacobs
Skull necklace- Urban Outfitters
Wedge sandals- Kork-Ease

I'm still trying to figure out the proper way to take outfit photos. I always post on Instagram, and it won't accept photos that are too tall. Unfortunate, because I am much too tall and a square photo is sort of awkward with the blank space. Life is just so hard.

This photo was taken outside of Anthropologie in Omaha. Beautiful store with an amazing yellow exterior that blends into my super pale arm.

borrowed from the boys

The season of the bare-legged shorts has begun. Never mind the sweet bruise on my leg. I've decided I'm completely obsessed with my MMJ straw tote.

new look to try: milkmaid braids

One of my favorite beauty bloggers, Megan from Lips So Facto, posted a great hair tutorial on milkmaid braids for short hair. I tried it and was somewhat successful (I need some practice, obviously), but her videos are so helpful. Check out the blog, if you haven't already.

I will certainly try this again! It hides my ombre hair and makes it look like my hair is all black, which is naturally is. Everyone asked me all day if I darkened my hair (I didn't). Kind of cool for a different look!

oh, dear, outfit posts

The outfit posts start...NOW! Outfit/personal style blogs are the best because no two are the same. Everyone has a unique spin on stuff, even if they like the same pieces. So, I have decided to do Outfit of the Day posts.

Just as a bit of a disclaimer: I am not a photographer, I do not know what I'm doing, and I do not own nice photo equipment. I know nothing about Photoshop. All I have are clothes I love and an iPhone. So, here goes!

a bag affair

Spring bags are turning up everywhere! Some are canvas, woven, striped, bold prints and colors -- but regardless, there's something for everyone.

Kate Spade "Horseshoe Cove Scout" - Zappos

I'm obsessed with this bag. I was reluctant about the size, as it is kind of smaller. I made the mistake of putting my stuff in it (which really just consists of a large wallet and the case for my sunglasses). Of course, it fit really well and that made me want it even more. I cracked and bought it at Von Maur. It's a coated canvas and patent neon coral, and the color in real life is so gorgeous. It's a nice alternative to my neon orange Cambridge Satchel because this is much more feminine and it has a magnetic close. Plus, it has a polka dot lining (typical Kate Spade adorableness).

Kate Spade "Point Breeze Mini Coal" - Bloomingdale's

Here's another Kate Spade from her spring collection. So many of her spring bags are amazing, so it was hard to choose just a few to post. I could really do an entire post about all of them, but this is an interesting take on the straw tote. I love the chain strap -- gives it a much more glamorous feel. I absolutely love straw bags, especially when they're striped.

Marc by Marc Jacobs "Striped Sami Tote" - Bloomingdale's

This bag is actually not black, but navy. It's a beautiful, nautical beachy tote, spacious and roomy for all of your mild-weathered needs. It's straw and leather woven, and the colors are so great you could probably wear this in other seasons as well.

Rebecca Minkoff "Studded Affair"- Bloomingdale's

I will probably always have a love affair with studs. This bag is lady-like and the perfect crisp white spring shade, but I absolutely love the mini spikes to toughen things up. This is an updated version of her black studded bag last fall with the gold hardware.

Kate Spade "Delavan Terrace Little Nadine" - Piperlime

Kind of like an Hermes picnic basket? So cute.

Marc by Marc Jacobs "Solid Straw Top Handle"- Piperlime

So far Piperlime is the only place that has this bag -- and it's on order until May. Looks like it might be worth the wait. It's a fantastic size, simple and with a shoulder strap and a longer strap. I love the two tones of black leather with straw.
Tillary canvas bucket bag- J.Crew

J.Crew never disappoints in clothes, jewelry or bags, and this Tillary bag is no different. I held it in person, and the leather is super soft and a very vibrant green. I love the navy stripe. It's a super preppy bag, but imagine it with a leather jacket or some moto ankle boots.

Cooperative Mixed Media Tote- Urban Outfitters

Trendy neon and a nice beige canvas only for $59. This is one of my favorite bags at Urban right now. I haven't seen it come through the store yet, but it's still available online (for now, anyway). I predict this to be a big seller.

Rebecca Minkoff "MAB Mini Straw"- Saks

If ever there was a springy bag designed for girls who like their accessories to have an attitude (i.e.- me!), this is it. I love the juxtaposition of tough with light and airy straw bag. The inside is leopard too (drool!)!! Bonus: It looks to be super expensive, but it's really not.

Daybook Mini Satchel- Anthropologie

A Marni-style bag with an Anthro price tag! Score.

Happy shopping! xox

I am one who is constantly making wish lists, but now comes the time of the year where it's actually (sort of) taken into consideration and acceptable.
