I got my new Nordstrom catalog earlier this week and was stoked to see Miss Coco Rocha! She is so adorable. The slideshow below contains the whole catalog from Nordstrom's website.

julia + mario = pure excitement
Ultra-cool girl Julia Restoin-Roitfeld is the new face of Lancome. Awesome!!! And even more awesome: the 29-year-old will be shot by Mario Testino. I can't wait to see the results.
If you're unsure who she is, Julia is the daughter of French Vogue editor, Carine Roitfeld (below). She has an amazing style (how could she not?), often wearing leopard and leather. I rarely see her in anything other than her usual black and dark-toned palette.
If you're unsure who Mario Testino is...(sigh). Google him.

chanel: resort 2011
I love Chanel, but I wasn't completely blown away by this one. I appreciate the artistry behind the pieces, but as far as what I would wear in my mind...eh. HOWEVER, I love the tweed dresses and jackets, of course. What Chanel collection would be complete without them? The rest of the pieces are a little too boho for my liking.

The lace-up sandals are cool...very vision quest. The gold tweed pieces are GORGEOUS! The golds and browns definitely set the mood for the collection and the season.
Yes, that is Crystal Renn (in the cream and black colorblock dress). I'm very pleased to see Karl Lagerfeld using a size 12 (US) model in his collections. She looks great.

the marc pre-cursor
Marc Jacobs wasn't someone I really paid attention to until I started college. I always admired his work from the far reaches of Google and various fashion magazines. It wasn't until one of our local department stores began carrying Marc by Marc Jacobs that I was able to see, in person, the genius and beauty of his talent.
Flashback, fall 2006: The first garment of his that I laid eyes on was a gorgeous black silk mini-dress. It resembled a vintage frock. The design was immaculate. When I held it up to myself, it was a real dress on me. At 5'10", a "dress" usually turns out to be more like a tunic. I fell in love with a black peacoat of his with giant buttons, something surely Marianne Faithfull would have worn in the 60s. I had a favorite designer in that instant. From discovering my love for Marc, I was able to better develop my own personal style and not be afraid to be a little bit out there. His work continues to inspire and astound.

It's easy to tell who loves life and their work by what they design. Some designers will make the same run-of-the-mill shit because it's easy, and they're just in it for the fame and money. Why be creative when you can just rip somebody off? Not Marc. He makes everything with love. Seeing his collections invite you into a very personal place of his and seeing what his crazy-brilliant mind sees. Marc Jacobs wants you to come into his world. Do it.

This is a printed version of the dress from the fall 2006 show.
Not for people who take fashion too seriously. Marc knows fun is the crux of style.

louis vuitton: resort 2011
The fall 2010 collection was flirty and feminine. For resort, Marc Jacobs kept the girliness, but made all of his looks very accessory-driven. The classic monogram bags are a staple, of course, as are the 60s secretary/librarian glasses and suits. As an accessories fanatic, I appreciate that each outfit is decked out to the nines with gloves, hats, jewelry, and head scarves.
xoxo Jessica
