a lanvin halloween

An assortment of colorful characters came out for the 2010 Lanvin Halloween Extravaganza at the Lanvin Boutique in NYC. Such guests included on-again-off-again-pregnant Rachel Zoe and former colleague Brad Goreski who dressed up as blogger Tavi Gevinson from thestylerookie.com. With her grayish-pink hair and signature oversized bow in mind, he nailed it. You know you've made it when people are dressing up as you for Halloween. Way to go, Tavi.

where in the world is kate moss?

You've heard it a million times: Kate Moss has amazing style. Yes, she has scores and scores of look-alikes emulating her grungy rock look with disheveled hair and Ray-Bans. But I can't help but still love her after all these years. And I, too, find myself copying her outfits from time to time.

These days, Moss is promoting her last line with Topshop. She's also been rumored to be the face of Christian Dior's new fragrance. And did she secretly marry rocker boyfriend Jamie Hince? Again, a rumor. But apparently she's been wearing a wedding ring whilst out and about in London. By the way, I love that she has bangs again. They suit her really well.

Have a safe and happy Halloween, everyone!

Vogue does it every week on their website, and now they're coming out with a book dedicated to today's most enviable style icons. I decided to pull my favorites, many of whom are no doubt in the book.

More lists will be made, I'm sure, but who do you think is the best dressed this year?

christmas list: first draft

Is October too early to begin a Christmas list? Yes and no. I need to edit down some stuff now before I really go crazy.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Embedot Shoulder Bag, $398

So unlike any other Marc Jacobs bag I own, or really any bag I own period! It's so beautiful and holiday-like with its golden adornments. It looks like it would hold quite a bit too.

instant hotness

There is a new magical item in stores right now. It has the power to transform the dumpiest, frumpiest outfit into a chic masterpiece. It is the fur trapper hat, and it can make you the most stylish person in the room.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Monster Fur Hat, $278

Let's say for whatever reason you decided to wear your Victoria's Secret sweatpants today and an old t-shirt. No problem. Slap on one of these babies, and voila! You're good to go. Just don't let anyone see the PINK (written in blue? WTF?) on your butt.

Staring at Stars Trapper Hat, $38

Faux Fur Hat, $10.80

Alone, Rumi's outfit is cute. But with the help of her sexy hat, it's suddenly amazing and makes me want to know more about her. Imagine how hot Elmer Fudd would've been with a hat from Urban Outfitters instead of the one he usually wore.

foxy lady

The clever, danger-seeking creatures are no longer confined to the woodland areas. They're in your favorite stores. While fur (namely fox) might be in for fall, actual fox-semblance knits and prints are the big accessories. Bonus: they're safe for your wallet and animal rights friendly.

This might be the cutest thing I've ever seen. At first I was torn...is it kind of wrong? It is, after all, supposed to resemble the real fox stoles that had the tail and head intact. But I've come to love it and think it's pretty hilarious and freaking adorable. Very pricy, however! Good thing the holidays are just around the corner.

These, however, I was able to buy! Also from Anthropologie, I fell in love instantly. Not only are the colors amazing and will go with everything, they're little foxes! I will probably wear these with a mustard skirt. And since they're sweater tights, they will keep you warm this fall and winter.

We got these in at Urban late last month and it's been virtually impossible to keep them in stock. With the different animals available, the fox with his gold button eyes was definitely the cutest.

And here he is: the most dapper of canids, Mr. Fox. Ahem, the Fantastic Mr. Fox that is. The ultimate style icon of the Roald Dahl books, Mr. Fox was never without his button-down shirts and ties and his corduroy blazers.

Filamentous Cardigan

This sweater from Anthropologie is finally mine! It's gorgeous. Somewhere between a sweatercoat and a cardigan, it's so stinking warm and cozy. You can't tell in this picture but it has a sash as well. Anthro's website has amazing outfitting ideas which they update frequently.

Heathers, 1989

One of my favorite movies. I pulled this one out of the DVD drawer recently and relived some of my favorite moments of croquet, Swatches, funerals, and "Corn Nuts!"

Abbey Lee Kershaw

She must always look cool. Seeing other people's blogs lately has made me realize how amazing model Abbey Lee Kershaw's personal style is. She's been seen wearing everything from blue fur jackets to maxi dresses.

BDG Hiker Boots, $68 at Urban Outfitters.

I wasn't quick enough to jump on these babies, sadly. First the size 10 was out of stock, now the entire brown color is gone. I was going to wait around and hope they come back, but I found a look-alike pair by Kensie Girl -- and these have shearling on the inside!

Burberry Prorsum Fall 2010 Ad

According to The Cut, Burberry's revenue is up about 21% thanks to the stylish new shearling designs. The boots and coats have been a huge hit, and understandably so. I loved the Fall 2010 show with the sherpa and military-inspired outfitting. Bring on the cold weather!

so this is nebraska

No, Nebraska poet laureate Ted Kooser probably didn't have Samantha Gradoville specifically in mind when he wrote about gravel roads and tractors in the aforementioned poem. But like Kooser, I'm extremely proud to say that the new, up-and-coming model is from my hometown of Omaha, Nebraska. She's been in countless spring 2011 shows such as Louis Vuitton, Prada, Dolce and Gabbana, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Miu Miu just to name a few. Oh, and her dad is my dentist. Life is weird, isn't it?

I was absolutely tickled to see Sam in an editorial spread in the October issue of Harper's Bazaar a few weeks ago. Wearing Dior, Gucci, Christian Louboutin, Dolce and Gabbana, Burberry Prorsum, and ChloƩ, she is single-handedly fulfilling my sartorial dream. And how about those eyebrows? She reminds me of an old movie star or Camilla Belle. Yes, indeedy, she's going to be a big star. Who says Nebraska is just cornfields and farms? Well, besides Ted Kooser.

where in the world is jessica stam?

Fashion Week is over, and I've lost track of what some of my favorites have been up to. Supermodel Jessica Stam isn't in nearly as many fashion shows as she once was (she is, after all, ancient at the age of 24), but she's still very much a strong presence in the industry.

Aside from designing a line with Rachel Roy (available at Macy's), she's also the new face for Love, Express, the new fragrance by Express and some print ads for the retailer. If you go in the store, she's on the walls modeling some dolman sweaters. She continues to do ads for Aldo as well.

I think what makes her such a compelling model is her ability to be a total chameleon. She has the most captivating face, a prime candidate for print modeling, and if the fashion industry has a brain, they'll never let her go.
