alexander mcqueen: fall 2010

In the wake of Alexander McQueen's passing, his fall collection emerges as a gorgeous tribute to the late designer. He died in February, shortly after his mother.

The mood is somber, but the medieval-inspired looks do his memory a great justice. There is almost a hint of oriental-viking, too, especially with the headdresses. McQueen was inspired by churches and religious iconography. This fall collection seemed to be a very personal, private one compared to the others. There is no runway, just an intimate room for a select few to see one of McQueen's last masterpieces.

It is our loss.
